Are we all just building a better mousetrap?

Do competitors keep us on our toes? Bill Gates would argue it's the only way to progress. Gates explains, “Whether it's Google or Apple or free software, we've got some fantastic competitors and it keeps us on our toes.” If necessity is the mother of invention then competition is the mean old grandfather pestering progress.
While there is a need or desire for standardization in operating systems to a degree, new ideas break the mold for technology and inspire growth and new ideas. As the show Shark Tank’s investor Mark Cuban would say, “you’re not inventing the mousetrap, you’re creating a BETTER mousetrap.”
Graphic User Interface (GUI) needs to be in a perpetual state of evolution. Much like the the clothes we once grew out of, operating systems and GUI’s progress must grow to accommodate the user. It can also be adjusted to the demographic it serves. We have more choices as consumers and creators to enable or disable features as needed.
We are also exploring new ways to adapt our operating systems and GUI’s to be ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. This universal design for accessibility is being integrated on every level. We are fighting for inclusivity and individual entities and small tech startups are putting their out of the box ideas into practice. So get out there and start creating a better mousetrap and keep Bill Gates on his toes!
